In what season is fattening beef cattle most suitable?
The most suitable season for fattening beef cattle
In regions with four distinct seasons, fattening beef cattle in spring and autumn gives good results. At this time the climate is mild, there are few mosquitoes and flies, and it is suitable for the growth of beef cattle; the cattle have a large feed intake and grow quickly. The fattening season should preferably avoid summer, because the hot summer weather reduces appetite and is not conducive to cattle weight gain. In winter, because the temperature is low, the cattle body uses more heat energy for maintenance and weight gain slows down; therefore, fattening in winter consumes more feed, has low feed efficiency, and is not economically worthwhile. In addition, green feed is scarce in winter, and the cost of storing forage increases, which also raises the feeding cost.
