Characteristics of the Grimaud Muscovy Duck
The Grimaud Muscovy Duck, also known as the Barbary Muscovy Duck, was bred by the French company Grimaud. Its heavy-type Muscovy duck (R71 type) grows quickly and has a high lean meat rate. The parent-generation breeding ducks reach sexual maturity at 28 weeks of age, with a body weight of 3 kg at the start of laying, and lay 220 eggs over two laying periods, with a fertility rate of 92% to 93% for hatching eggs. The commercial generation reaches a body weight of 5.3 kg at 88 days of age, with a feed-to-meat ratio of up to 2.8 and a lean meat rate of over 50%.
