Issues to note when introducing breeding ducks
When introducing breeding stock, the following issues should be noted: (1) Based on local conditions (such as water surface area, site, etc.), decide whether to focus on grazing or on confined rearing. Then, based on local market demand, decide which economic type of duck breed to raise; (2) Based on feeding and management conditions, decide which breeds with different production performance to introduce; (3) The climatic conditions of the source area for introduction should be as consistent as possible with local conditions; (4) When selecting breeding female ducks, choose ducks with a slender head and neck, deep chest and round abdomen, broad hindquarters, expanded pubic bones, and a body that is not overly fat. Since breeding male ducks are needed in small numbers and the offspring produced by male ducks are numerous and influential, special attention should be paid to the selection of breeding male ducks.
