Management of Laying Ducks in Different Seasons
In spring, the focus is on preventing mold and ensuring ventilation. Open doors and windows wide for thorough ventilation, change the litter frequently, keep the house dry, clear the ditches, and prevent sewage from accumulating in the exercise yard. Strictly guard against feed becoming moldy and spoiled, and disinfect the duck house regularly. In summer, prevent heatstroke and lower the temperature: open doors and windows wide, install exhaust fans, and set up shade frames. Disperse the duck flock appropriately and reduce stocking density. In autumn, supplement artificial lighting so that the daily light period is no less than 16 hours, with an intensity of 5 to 8 lux (1.25 to 2 watts per sq m). In winter, the focus is on cold protection and warmth retention and maintaining a certain light period; increase the stocking density per unit area to 8 to 9 ducks per sq m, close doors and windows properly, and prevent drafts.
