Methods for Controlling Stocking Density in Muscovy Ducklings
Controlling the Density of Muscovy Ducklings
Before Muscovy ducklings reach 3 weeks of age, males and females differ barely at all in body weight, and the stocking density is relatively high. Usually, 40 to 45 birds are raised per square meter during the 1st week, 30 to 35 birds during the 2nd week, and 23 to 30 birds during the 3rd week. Muscovy ducks have a greater oxygen requirement than other poultry, so under housed conditions special attention should be paid to ventilation, and the ventilation rate should be adjusted according to season, density, temperature and odor.
