What are the key points in adult fish rearing and management?
The daily rearing and management of ornamental fish at the adult stage is a very meticulous task. This includes suctioning waste and cleaning the pond, providing shade and protection from cold, and feeding. Adult fish are not only required to have bright colors, elegant posture, prominent features, and steady swimming style, but the body length and weight of large fish must also reach certain specifications. Therefore, their rearing is complex, the survival rate is low, and the cost is relatively high, often requiring measures to accelerate cultivation and speed up growth. A brief introduction follows:

One method is based on the close relationship between growth rate and the rearing environment and feed quality, usually adopting reduced stocking density so that ornamental fish have a suitable range of activity and sufficient oxygen; fully supplying live bait and meticulous management can promote faster growth. Another method is to select strong-bodied juvenile fish and place them in earthen ponds for rearing, where the water surface is broad and feeding is sufficient; in addition to artificial feeding, there is also suitable natural food, promoting faster growth. However, this rearing method can easily cause deformities in the body shape of ornamental fish. To prevent changes in body shape, earthen ponds and tanks can be used alternately for rearing. Soaking briefly in a 0.5%-1% baking soda solution can promote fish body growth, and can also strengthen the fish's constitution, encourage lively swimming, and prevent fish diseases. When using this method, note that because soaked fish have increased appetite, sufficient fresh live animal bait must be supplied; the container used for soaking should be appropriately larger; each soaking should last 10-15 minutes, with the specific duration depending on the fish's adaptability. Experience has shown that the soaking effect is relatively obvious at a water temperature of about 24°C.
