How to culture rotifers? Detailed explanation of breeding methods and technical key points
How to culture rotifers?
Most rotifers are very small and are good bait for feeding fry. During cultivation, the water temperature should be controlled at 18°C to 24°C, and the method of fertilizing the water body should be used, first propagating planktonic algae and small protozoa as food for the rotifers. The fertilizing method is: mix 20 to 30 grams of ammonium nitrate and 5 to 10 grams of human feces and urine per cubic meter of water into a mixed fertilizer and put it into the pond once as a base fertilizer. After the algae have multiplied, introduce the seed source, and after about 10 days of cultivation, they can be harvested. During the cultivation process, generally apply organic fertilizer once every 4 to 5 days as a top dressing. Rotifers are widely distributed and can be seen in pits and ponds, rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, so the seed source for culturing rotifers can still be obtained by separating them from "hui water." That is, take several milliliters of "hui water" and put it into a glass dish, first use a pipette to remove large Daphnia, then place it under a microscope, and using the rotifers' phototactic habit, use a fine pipette to separate the rotifers one by one. First culture them in a smaller container, and when a certain amount has been reached, put them into a breeding pond for mass culture.
