For water-propagating geranium cuttings, choosing the right branch is very important. When preparing the branch, do not damage the round part where the side branch joins the main stem. The choice of water is also important; if using tap water, let it sit for a while. For the medium, you can use perlite, vermiculite, etc. To propagate, just prepare a piece of foam, make a hole in the middle, insert the branch, and fix it in the water.

1. Preliminary Preparation

(1) Selection and processing of materials: The first step is, of course, choosing the propagation material. You need to select a good branch from a robust, healthy plant. When cutting it off, be sure not to damage its heel. The original meaning of "heel" is "the back of the foot"; on a branch, it refers to the round part where the side branch joins the main stem. Never injure it.

(2) Choice of water: Tap water can be used, but it needs to sit for a while, or be left in the sun for a period before use.

(3) Choice of medium: There are many media to choose from, and they all work well, such as perlite, vermiculite, and so on.

2. Carrying Out the Propagation

First, prepare a piece of foam and make a small hole in the middle. Then, insert the chosen branch into the central hole, and then place it into the water in the container. Doing this makes use of the foam's buoyancy, which allows the branch to stand upright in the water.

3. Later Care

After propagating, be sure to place it in a shady spot. Be careful that the temperature is not too high, and do not expose it to overly strong light. Keep it moist; after about a month, the branch will be able to root. After rooting, normal care can be resumed, keeping the temperature warm. It can receive appropriate indirect light. During this period, be sure to change the water and not let the water quality get too poor.
