Preparation and use of several disinfectants
1. Caustic soda  Prepare a 2%-3% solution, used to disinfect rearing sites and equipment, once a week; it has the best effect on killing viruses. After disinfecting equipment, rinse it clean with water.

2. Lime  Prepare a 15%-20% quicklime emulsion, to be used immediately after mixing. Lime emulsion can kill many kinds of infectious pathogens and is commonly used to disinfect pens, walls and sites, once every 7-15 days.

3. Bleaching powder  Prepare a 3.5%-5% disinfectant solution, commonly used to disinfect pens, sites, equipment and drinking water; use it immediately after mixing, once every 7-15 days.

4. Benzalkonium bromide  Prepare a 0.1% disinfectant solution, commonly used to disinfect various equipment, instruments, skin and hands; it must not be used together with toilet soap, and must be used immediately after mixing.

5. Formalin, i.e. a 40% formic acid solution, used to disinfect rearing sites. It can also be used at 15-20 milliliters per cubic meter for fumigation to disinfect hatching eggs and incubation equipment.

6. Potassium permanganate  Prepare a 1:8000 solution, which can be used to disinfect equipment, hands, green feed and drinking water. It can also be prepared as drinking water for young poultry to drink, for 4-7 consecutive days.

Precautions for using chemical disinfectants:
(1) The disinfectant must be prepared into a solution;
(2) The concentration and dosage of the disinfectant must comply with regulations;
(3) Disinfection must reach the specified time;
(4) The disinfectant must directly or fully contact the pathogens;
(5) Note that temperature affects the disinfection effect; avoid carrying out disinfection operations at too high or too low a temperature.
