Diagnosis and Control of Viral Enteritis and Bacterial Enteritis in Fish

The intestinal wall of diseased fish is red in all cases. However, viral enteritis is also accompanied by hyperemia of the mouth, top of the head, gill cover, orbit, fin rays, and muscles, and it mostly affects large-size grass carp fingerlings; this disease is a type of grass carp hemorrhagic disease. Bacterial enteritis, by contrast, has no hyperemia of the muscles or fin rays; it presents as abdominal swelling in the diseased fish, with a red and swollen protruding anus, and when the abdomen is gently pressed, pale yellow mucus flows out of the anus. It mostly affects one-year-old grass carp and black carp fingerlings.

Control methods for viral enteritis: First, inject the grass carp hemorrhagic disease live vaccine when stocking the fingerlings. Second, apply 30 to 50 jin of quicklime per mu and splash it over the entire pond on consecutive days at intervals of one day.

Control methods for bacterial enteritis: Dissolve 1 ppm bleaching powder in water and splash it over the entire pond, and at the same time orally administer 20 grams of Fish Yong Ai De Xin per 100 kg of feeding fish per day, or directly feed 500 grams of Huo Yu Bao per 100 kg of feeding fish per day, for three consecutive days.
