How to prevent and treat trichodiniasis in farmed red sea bream?
When farming red sea bream in seawater cages, the following situation may occur: black spots appear at the caudal peduncle or the base of the dorsal fin of the farmed red sea bream, and spread rapidly forward and backward and expand, so that the entire body color turns black, the gills turn pink, and mucus increases. In severe cases, the head points downward and the tail fin points upward, nearly vertical to the water surface, and the fish soon dies. Microscopic examination shows that a large number of Trichodina are clustered in the body of the diseased fish, so this disease is called trichodiniasis.
Prevention and treatment methods:
(1) When carrying out operations such as seine netting and transportation, special attention must be paid to avoiding scraping the body of the farmed red sea bream.
(2) During disease-prone seasons, the method of hanging bags of copper sulfate and bleaching powder can be used to achieve the purpose of prevention or disinfection.
(3) Soak the diseased fish in 8ppm copper sulfate plus 10ppm ferrous sulfate for 10 to 15 minutes.
(4) Add an appropriate amount of oxytetracycline to the compound feed to feed the red sea bream.
In farmed red sea bream, if the gill filaments are found to be rotten and whitish, this is bacterial gill rot. It also manifests as: mud and mucus attached to the gills; in severe cases, the gill epidermis rots, the cartilage at the tips of the gill filaments is exposed, the body color turns black, and the head is especially dark.
Prevention and treatment methods:
(1) Keep the aquaculture water fresh and prevent seawater pollution.
(2) Regularly splash 1ppm bleaching powder over the entire cage, or hang bags of bleaching powder around the feeding platform.
(3) Splash 1.5 to 2ppm Fumeishen over the entire cage.
