Cultivating strong, vigorous plants to enhance cold resistance and stress tolerance
Control temperature, prevent excessive growth, and promote strong plants Now the greenhouse has long been covered with straw mats, and the nighttime temperature is already guaranteed, but because of the straw mat covering, the daytime temperature is often not well controlled. The optimal daytime growing temperature for most vegetables is 25°C~30°C, and the nighttime temperature is 13°C~18°C. Therefore, the straw mats should be uncovered early on the premise of ensuring that the greenhouse temperature drops by no more than 2°C after uncovering. When the greenhouse temperature reaches 28°C, ventilation should begin, but the vent should not be too large; generally, a gap of 10 cm opened at the vent is appropriate. When the greenhouse temperature is higher than 32°C at noon, the vent should also be widened to prevent excessively high temperatures from affecting the normal development of the vegetables. When the greenhouse temperature reaches 22°C in the afternoon, close the vent, and when the greenhouse temperature reaches 20°C, promptly cover with straw mats to keep warm.

Increase light duration and improve light intensity

Because more than 90% of the yield of vegetables comes from photosynthetic products. Therefore, in winter when the sunshine duration is relatively short, light must be increased and supplemented to promote the operation of photosynthesis in vegetables. So, on the basis of choosing drip-free film with good light transmittance and a long service life, frequently clean the film so that the greenhouse film always maintains a relatively high light transmittance. In addition, on the premise of keeping the temperature inside the greenhouse from decreasing, uncover the straw mats as early as possible and cover them as late as possible, so that the vegetables in the greenhouse receive light earlier and more light, thereby increasing the accumulation of photosynthetic products even more. A reflective screen can also be hung on the north wall of the greenhouse to improve the light conditions inside the greenhouse.

Moderately control water but do not let the plants lack water Although the temperature is low now and the soil temperature is low, greenhouse vegetables grow slowly and do not need much water, excessive water control is also not advisable. Because the low water demand is relative to high-temperature seasons; greenhouse vegetables generally need more water, and if a normal water supply cannot be ensured, their normal growth will be seriously affected. When plant growth is affected, disease resistance and stress tolerance will also be greatly weakened. Therefore, the key to water management lies in coordinating the relationship between watering, raising the soil temperature, and reducing humidity inside the greenhouse; it is necessary both to ensure the normal demand of vegetables for soil moisture and nutrients, and to maintain suitable soil temperature, while also reducing the humidity inside the greenhouse as much as possible.

Do not apply excessive fertilizer by flushing, and apply foliar fertilizer at the right time

During low-temperature periods, vegetables grow slowly and need less nutrition, and applying chemical fertilizer by flushing can easily cause problems such as root damage and yellow leaves. At present, flushing fertilizer should mainly be organic fertilizer or biological bacterial fertilizer, because after organic fertilizer or biological bacterial fertilizer is applied by flushing, it can not only meet the nutritional needs of vegetables, but also raise the soil temperature, promote vegetable rooting, expand the range of nutrient absorption by the root system, and is not prone to fertilizer damage. However, flushing fertilizer must not be excessive; generally, apply 20~40 kg of organic fertilizer or biological bacterial fertilizer per mu each time. When root activity is weak, foliar fertilization is a good way to supplement plant nutrition.
