What are the precautions for fertilizing leafy vegetables?
Fertilization precautions for leafy vegetables
In response to the prominent problems in the fertilization of leafy vegetables, such as low application rates of organic fertilizer and the one-sided and excessive application of chemical fertilizers, adhere to using mainly organic fertilizer as base fertilizer and mainly quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer as topdressing, with combined application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, while also paying attention to the application of calcium and magnesium fertilizers.
Organic fertilizer application: apply about 3000 kg of already decomposed and harmlessly treated organic fertilizer per mu.
Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium application: for a yield level below 1500 kg per mu, apply 12 kg of nitrogen fertilizer, 6 kg of phosphorus fertilizer and 9 kg of potassium fertilizer per mu; for a yield level of 1500-2000 kg per mu, apply 11 kg of nitrogen fertilizer, 5.5 kg of phosphorus fertilizer and 8.5 kg of potassium fertilizer per mu; for a yield level above 2000 kg per mu, apply 10 kg of nitrogen fertilizer, 5 kg of phosphorus fertilizer and 8 kg of potassium fertilizer per mu.
Fertilization ratio: for base fertilizer, generally before sowing or transplanting, apply 100% of the organic fertilizer, 100% of the phosphorus fertilizer and 20% of the nitrogen and potassium fertilizers as deep base fertilizer. For seedling fertilizer, the amount is generally 10% of the total nitrogen and potassium fertilizer application. During the vigorous growth period, the fertilization amount is generally 80% of the total nitrogen and potassium fertilizer application, and topdressing should be applied in split applications, with topdressing about every 10 days. In addition, most leafy vegetables are calcium-loving and magnesium-loving crops. For places where soil exchangeable calcium and magnesium are below the critical value, calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer should be selected, 10-20 kg of lime should be applied per mu as a supplement, or a 0.3% calcium chloride solution or a 0.25%-0.5% calcium nitrate solution should be sprayed at the seedling stage and vigorous growth period, to prevent leafy vegetables from being seriously affected in product and quality due to physiological calcium deficiency or magnesium deficiency.
