After soil disinfection, pay attention to reducing re-infection by pests and diseases
For greenhouses that have been planted for many years, disinfection with calcium cyanamide, methyl bromide, dazomet, etc. can kill the vast majority of pathogens in the greenhouse soil and reduce the occurrence of soil-borne diseases, especially root-knot nematodes. However, many vegetable growers only focus on how to kill pathogens and neglect to prevent pathogens from being introduced again, which leads to vegetable disease and greatly weakens the effect of soil disinfection. As a result, many vegetable growers believe that soil disinfectants are useless or fake.

To prevent and control soil-borne diseases, soil disinfection is the foundation, but to avoid disease occurrence, preventing pathogens from being introduced again must not be neglected. First, when disinfecting, tools should also be placed inside the greenhouse for disinfection at the same time; second, the clothes and shoes worn for working in the greenhouse should preferably be dedicated ones, and they should be changed when leaving the greenhouse; for seedling raising, a soilless substrate should be used, and the seedling-raising soil must be disinfected to eliminate or reduce the re-entry of external pathogens and nematodes. After soil disinfection, the microorganisms in the soil are all killed. To improve the activity of beneficial microorganisms in the soil, biofertilizers can be added, such as actinomycetes (Qingdao DND biofertilizer), etc. When applying biofertilizer, it should be separated from chemical fertilizers. Chemical fertilizers can be used first in advance, and biofertilizer can be used at planting time, applied in furrows or planting holes.

In addition, after soil disinfection, the plants grow especially vigorously. In particular, calcium cyanamide also contains relatively high nitrogen, so after soil disinfection, the amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be reduced by about 1/3. Otherwise, it is easy to cause seedling legginess, which is not conducive to cultivating strong plants and increasing yield.
