Succulents Look Even More Gorgeous in Deadwood Planters, and the Deadwood Gets a Second Spring

There is an old saying: "Rotten wood cannot be carved." Deadwood may indeed no longer be suitable for carving, but when deadwood meets succulents, even without any carving it will regain its vitality and show a different kind of beauty.
Materials: deadwood trunk, polyurethane (optional), several succulents, granular soil, oil brush, electric drill (optional), hole saw (optional), Huahuashen
1. Choose deadwood with natural hollows and dips if possible; if there are none, you can use an electric drill with a hole saw to hollow out the pits.
2. Dilute Huahuashen in water and wash with it, mainly to kill the small insects and insect eggs inside the cracks of the wood. After washing clean, dry it in the sun, and saw off the excess parts.
3. If conditions allow, after it is completely dry, coat the inside and outside with polyurethane, which can effectively prevent erosion by small insects; if not, you can proceed directly to the next step.
4. Fill the hollows with granular soil, and choose tough, hardy succulents, selecting the planting positions according to the shape of the hollows and the size of the succulents.
5. Place it in a ventilated, shaded environment and wait quietly for the plants to establish; the establishing process can be the same as for normal succulents.
6. After the plants have established, gradually expose them to light, following normal succulent care methods.
PS: In the small cracks you can plant some golden sedum (Sedum japonicum 'Tokyo Sun'), which makes a more tasteful combination.
Reminder: In spring, watch out for all kinds of small insects.
