Before I fell into the succulent rabbit hole, I was crazy about outdoor sports, known as an outdoor tomboy: stream tracing, rock climbing, waterfall rappelling, cycling, swimming, hiking, trekking, traveling... never getting tired of it.

One day in December 2015, I was strolling through a flower market with my bestie, wanting to bring some green plants home, when I suddenly discovered these adorable little chubby plants called succulents, and immediately brought them home! It was these little chubby succulents that led me into the rabbit hole!

Since then, this tomboy has vanished from the outdoors. Every day I can't bear to leave these adorable succulents, and started hunting for succulents, planting succulents, photographing succulents, admiring succulents...

Seeing the changes in these veteran-level chubby succulents, the balcony can no longer contain my heart that loves chubby succulents. I want a whole courtyard of succulents.

Echeveria glauca (Blue Stone Lotus)

Every single succulent is the apple of my eye. Outdoor growing is the way to go, haha, enjoy my little garden's outdoor-grown chubby succulents!

The succulents are now all green, but I still love them the same, never leaving nor forsaking them. Treat succulents with sincerity, and they will surely show you their beauty!

Ever since I got a whole courtyard of succulents, my lifestyle has changed too. Every morning when I open my eyes, I run to the courtyard to observe and inspect the succulents. On nice days, I invite two or three besties to sit quietly in the courtyard drinking coffee, reading books, chatting, and admiring succulents... Every night before bed, I must read the Succulent Plant Encyclopedia...

Until I got poisoned by Su Jun's Aeonium, haha, having a courtyard means being willful!

Especially when I see the transformation of each Aeonium, I love Aeonium even more willfully! Haha, but whether it's chubby succulents or Aeonium, after more than two years of accumulated succulent-growing experience and learning experience, I no longer follow trends, chasing after which variety to collect. I choose succulents that suit Hubei, suit my own home environment, and suit what I can grow well myself. For example, no matter how much I like Echeveria runyonii (Topsy Turvy), I won't buy it again - buying it every year and every year it dies on you.

Summer Aeonium care: ventilation, rain and sun protection, prevent sunburn, don't cut off water, water in the evening or spray the leaves occasionally when the temperature is slightly lower. Too much water easily causes stem rot.

Aeonium 'Copper Kettle'
