From beautiful greater Yunnan, Kunming, a post-90s girl. I started growing succulents in June 2017 and now have one year of succulent-growing experience. Before growing succulents, all my money went to clothes and cosmetics. After growing succulents, all my money went to succulents and flower pots. Every month I pinch pennies, and when I see a succulent I like, I never hold back ^_^,
Look at my cute bear paw succulent, don't you think it's adorable~
First, let me talk about how I came into contact with this cute species, succulents. Because the new house had just been renovated and needed some plants at home to absorb formaldehyde, I went to Dounan and casually bought some plants. When I walked into Dounan, I discovered so many succulents and thought they were beautiful, so I carried several pots home. After getting home, I took careful care of them, and just like that, my succulent journey began.

After becoming obsessed with succulents, I started learning about their classifications and names. I still remember that when I went to the succulent shop to buy succulents, I could not name any of them, and I had to ask the owner the name of every pot. As for the word "crested," I was even more completely confused.
Every two or five days I had to go to the succulent shop to look at succulents and see whether the owner had any new stock. Within a few months, my succulents grew rapidly from 10 pots to 20 pots and then to 50 or 60 pots.

Of course, after buying so many succulents, my home was almost unable to hold them all. My house faces southeast and has a floor-to-ceiling balcony, but it has large glass, so it does not provide an environment for open-air growing. In winter, the succulents can get sun all day, but in summer they cannot get any sun.
In summer, the succulents at home cannot get sun, and the ventilation is not very good either. I thought about making a terrace for the succulents where they could get sun and have good ventilation. Should I rent a rooftop terrace in an old residential compound? Thinking about it, that was unrealistic, since it was far away. Later, my husband's workplace found a large open space, so we quickly moved all the succulents there. That could count as fulfilling my wish for open-air growing.
You in summer, truly so green ^_^
Pansy is my favorite. I bought three with different shapes.

As for black rot in succulents in summer, I also had one or two pots with black rot. The other succulents were quite tough and lived well. Still, I should not celebrate too early, since summer is not over yet ^_^

Although greater Yunnan is an excellent place for growing succulents, the summer sun is also too much for them, and there is a lot of rain. Some succulents even got sunburned. Every day I put up shade cloth for sun protection, switch to rain cloth when rain comes, and switch back to shade cloth when the weather clears. The succulents are also all vegetable-green, waiting for their perfect transformation in winter.
