There are too many flowers planted on my 13 sq m balcony garden and my parents-in-law have a problem with it, what should I do

My 13 sq m "balcony garden": my parents-in-law came and said I plant too many flowers, they said with several kids, planting so many just adds trouble, but I like it and I don't think it's any trouble, just like how I carried a pot of fresh flowers home from another province, transferring from bus to plane, all the way home, even though my hands were full of luggage, I never tired of it! Even though the balcony needs a big thorough cleaning once a month, even though I spend less time watching TV, I still love it!
Would you say I'm being willful? I think growing flowers is a kind of life enjoyment, life isn't just about earning money, raising kids and doing chores
Since I was little I've loved windows with flowers and sunlight, I find it so poetic, ah, the elders don't understand, life isn't just about the kids, there's also sunlight and flowers
Kids today are already "poor" enough, so poor they have nothing left but a bit of pocket money, and it's hard to even find a little stream to play in, give the kids a bit more nature, it's not that the elders are wrong but what you can do they may not be able to do, raising flowers and raising kids at the same time, they'll definitely think you're not focusing on raising the kids...
What a heartwarming scene. The flowers are blooming beautifully too
This problem isn't just with young people, plenty of older people today have issues too, otherwise why are social problems mostly among the middle-aged and young people, mindset problems can be big or small, it depends on your attitude, since they're family you should still know your place and be the best version of yourself!
Accept humbly, never change! After a while your parents-in-law will get used to it, this trick could work, right?
