If you have ever tried placing a bottle of beautiful fresh flowers where you live, you will understand that feeling of how flowers can brighten up your life, and once you stop, it feels like life is missing a bit of beautiful color.

When you buy flowers at a flower shop, how should you handle them so the bloom period lasts as long as possible,

and how can you arrange fresh flowers to look even better? Come and take a look!

(1)

Trim the stems promptly and keep them in water

Three key points: promptness, trimming the stems, keeping them in water!

1. Promptness

During transport, fresh flowers remain for a long time in arelatively sealedenvironment, and after a long journey the flowers are already extremely thirsty. So after we receive the flowers, we musthandle them promptly, do not set them aside,

or by the time you remember them the flowers will already be at death's door.

2. Trimming the stems

Didn't you say the flowers are short of water? Shouldn't we replenish the water promptly? Why trim the stems first? Isn't that a waste of time? ...Too young too simple!

Although the fresh flowers are now extremely thirsty,if you simply and crudely stick the flowers into water, that is an even more fatal mistake!

Because after long transport, the base of our fresh flowers' stems is now full ofair bubbles and bacteria. If you do not trim or do not trim properly, then air and bacteria will follow the vessels deep into the flower stems; the air will prevent water from being transported up, and the bacteria will slowly eat away at our fresh flowers, and in the end it will only make the flowers wither.

Note:When trimming, cut at a 45° angle! For woody flowers, you can score a cross at the bottom, about 1~2cm deep, to increase the water-absorbing area.

3. Keeping them in water

Try to avoid choosing vases made of plastic, as they easily breed bacteria and shorten the bloom period. It is recommended to chooseglass, ceramic, iron, copper, and othermaterials for vases.

Take an appropriate amount of clean water and add flower nutrients -Chrysal, which can help the flowers stay vigorous longer. If

you do not have it, you can also make your own nutrients, that is, add some lemon juice and a cube of sugar to warm water.

Note:Different fresh flowers and foliage materials also have slightly different water-keeping standards!

Proper care

Fresh cut flowers are very delicate, so they need us to take extra special care of them.

1. Regular removal

Fresh flowers should be checked and cleaned often. When you find withered branches and leaves and faded flowers, clean them out promptly, and cut off the faded flowers promptly to prevent the flower branches from producing rotting substances, which not only affects the look but also produces a bad smell.

2. Regular water changes

If you want the bouquet to stay fresh for a long time, you need to keep changing the water to maintain the activity of the clean water. It is best to chooserainwater or purified water. In summer, change the water once every 1~2 days, and in winter every 3~5 days.

Note:The leaves and flowers of the bouquet must not be soaked in water, as they easily rot and produce germs.

If you find flocculent floating matter and turbidity in the water, clean the container promptly.

3. Proper storage

Flowers love to stay in a cool environment, but they must not be frozen either.

Note:Keep them away from cooking fumes or secondhand smoke; they must not be exposed to direct sunlight or lamp light; do not place them next to heating or air conditioning; do not place them on top of the TV or other appliances, as all of these will make the flowers wither.

Even more, do not place them next to fruit, such as apples, watermelons, and so on, as this easily makes the flowers fade.

Choosing a vase

1. Short and stout vase

Suitable for:fresh flowers with larger flower forms, such as roses, hydrangeas, peonies, and so on.

Arrangement method:Cut the stems short, and just let the flower heads show above the mouth of the vase; the number depends on the size of the vase mouth.

Those with clumsy hands can use tape to divide the vase mouth into a grid, then insert the flowers one by one, but pay attention tocolor tone and layering。

2. Tall and slender vase

Suitable for:simple and fresh flowers, such as tulips, calla lilies; or a few branches with unique forms.

Arrangement method:Choose some flowers with straight, long stems, place the flowers as close to the vase mouth as possible, and you can also use glass beads or crushed stones to hold them in place.

3. Narrow-mouthed vase

Suitable for:all kinds of flower forms

Arrangement method:There is no need to buy this kind of vase; all kinds of wine bottles and teapots can be used as vases. According to the size of the flower form, the vase opening can be matched freely.
