Lately there have really been so many great movies to watch, like "Dying to Survive" starring Xu Zheng, which has already broken two billion (the editor cried her eyes out by the end), "iPartment" coming out on August 10th, and "The Island" directed by Huang Bo, all of which I really want to see! But the movie my roommate and I watched together a couple of days ago, "Animal World" starring Li Yifeng, once again refreshed the editor's understanding of human nature. That brain-bending and frightening plot is truly super gripping! Come take a look!

The plot described on Baidu is: "Zheng Kaishi (Li Yifeng), having been deceived by a friend and saddled with millions in debt, faces his seriously ill mother and Liu Qing (played by Zhou Dongyu), the childhood sweetheart who waits devotedly for him. He resolves to board the 'Destiny' cruise ship and change his life of accomplishing nothing. As long as he can win the game aboard the ferry, he will have a chance to wipe out his debt entirely and bring his family a better life. The game looks simple: participants only need to use playing cards marked 'rock, paper, scissors' as props and win the star badges from their opponents. But the desperate gamblers on the cruise ship cheat and fight without any bottom line, exposing the selfishness and cruelty of human nature completely. Schemes within schemes and plots within plots ultimately turn the game arena into an 'Animal World' colosseum."

But in my view, "Zheng Kaisen," played by Li Yifeng, had a group of strange bad people come to his home on his eighth birthday. They put a hood over his head and left him in the bedroom. He heard a strange, eerie whistling sound, and the TV was showing a clown cartoon. His father was killed, and his mother became a vegetative patient. As an adult, Zheng Kaisen plays a clown in an arcade (and he really does feel that a clown lives inside him, ready to burst out at any moment, which is why he says at the very beginning, "There's something wrong with my brain"), earning an extremely low wage. Gradually, he can no longer afford his mother's medical expenses, and he cannot always let the girl he likes, Liu Qing, help him in a way that makes him look utterly without self-respect. For his mother, at the instigation of his friend Li Jun, he sold the house in Barkley, but on the way home he was grabbed by a strange person and taken to an organization. There, a truly villainous big Boss tells him that Li Jun is a swindler, and because he was the guarantor, under the rules of loan sharking, Li Yifeng would need to work thirty years without food or drink to pay it all off! But the big Boss tells him there is one way: to board a cruise ship called the "Destiny." There, as long as he wins the game, all his debt will be canceled, but if he loses, his life will be in danger.

For his mother, for the girl he likes, and to survive, Li Yifeng boarded that cruise ship that would decide his fate. On the cruise ship, there are many people from all over the world who, like him, owe debts for various reasons. The game they join looks extremely simple, but in fact profoundly exposes the ugliness of human nature. The tiger in the cage, ready to eat people at any moment, and the big Boss announcing that he hopes they will display their animal instincts to compete for the right to survive, begin a survival melee about the animal world.

In one contest of wits after another, after enduring countless hardships, the two brothers still, in the face of profit, let out the lament that "people die for wealth, birds die for food." Facing his brother's betrayal and the collapse of human nature, Li Yifeng finally bursts out. I especially like what Li Yifeng says when he explodes: "The battles that should be fought, I have already fought; the road that should be walked, I have already reached its end; the creed I believe in, I will guard myself!" Indeed, "I walk my own way" is not simply persistence, but a life with a beginning and an end, a jagged and unyielding pride, and also a kind of freedom that transcends worldly affairs. To understand worldly affairs yet transcend them, to have contradictions yet ultimately be able to choose reconciliation. It is that even with ten million roads available before one's eyes, one never changes course or takes an easier path, always on one's own road

forging ahead and never turning back.

This is probably also why Kaishi always mocks himself by saying, "There's something wrong with my brain," because this kind of persistence is not only as difficult as a ferry boat pushing forward against the waves, but also will not bring dazzling splendor and glory. All it can leave behind is the self-consoling feeling of having a clear conscience, of being worthy of heaven and earth. From a worldly perspective, this kind of person, who would rather suffer losses and hardship than turn back, is probably not only unworthy of respect, but can only invite ridicule. Yet Kaishi, constantly facing the measurement of worldly standards of profit, still preserves the most precious emotions and the gentlest innocence in his heart.

To be honest, life must dare to place bets to be exciting; otherwise, one is a coward who yields to reality! This value system is actually not wrong, but it is only a hair's breadth away from being wrong. If ordinary people accept this idea, one careless step and they can become desperate outlaws, or even be doomed forever!

So the creed you believe in must be defended well!

Li Yifeng is watching you!
