Recently, many gardening friends have left messages for Chengcheng, saying that after repotting their azaleas, the overall condition of the leaves is poor, and quite a few dry leaves have appeared. They asked Chengcheng what the reason is.

Chengcheng tells everyone: azaleas are rather delicate by nature, with very poor adaptability. The slightest bit of discomfort will cause dry leaves and leaf drop, and what they fear most is muggy heat and poor ventilation.

?In the past, I often told everyone in my videos that because azaleas are rather delicate, it is best to keep them for 3-6 months after buying them home, and repot them only after they have adapted to the new environment. What's more, they very much dislike being repotted during the flowering period.

So what should be done when azaleas show the dry leaves and leaf drop that gardening friends mentioned?

First,we need to remove the dry leaves, and in a season like now, it is best to place it in a cool, ventilated spot with bright, indirect light.

Second,

Azaleas have relatively high humidity requirements. In summer, when the weather is muggy and hot, azaleas under conditions of high temperature and high humidity are very prone to leaf spot disease, and once they get leaf spot disease, they will definitely develop a large number of dry leaves.

?Therefore, in summer, whether azaleas are grown indoors or outdoors, it is not suitable to mist the leaves to keep them moist. If grown outdoors, you can sprinkle some water on the ground, or place a basin of water beside the flower pot. This not only keeps it moist but also lowers the temperature.

In addition,

Azaleas also have relatively high requirements for soil mix. It is best to use pine needles + peat soil + perlite. If you really have no other soil, using only pine needles is also acceptable, but using garden soil is definitely not okay.

?But what needs to be reminded is:Regardless of whether the soil was suitable when it was planted at the time, now is not a suitable time to change the soil, because it is very weak now and cannot withstand being messed with; any disturbance will surely kill it. The only thing that needs to be done now is: remove the dry leaves, place it in a cool, ventilated spot with bright, indirect light, and then increase the air humidity.
