How to care for bougainvillea in hot weather? Pay attention to 3 points to avoid yellow leaves and scorched leaves

After half a month of thunderstorm weather ended, most parts of the country ushered in hot weather, with temperatures in many places reaching above 35°C. Such sustained high temperatures are a great test for the growth of potted flowers. Recently, I have received messages from many flower lovers: about the precautions for growing bougainvillea in summer high temperatures? And about the phenomenon of yellow leaves and scorched leaves appearing on bougainvillea...
The arrival of hot weather is actually a test for many flowers, and for plants like bougainvillea that are suitable for outdoor care and bloom in summer, special attention must be paid when hot weather hits, otherwise yellow leaves, scorched leaves and dropped flowers are very common.
Regarding hot weather, when caring for bougainvillea, you must pay attention to the following 3 points:
1. Watering:
First of all, plants must be watered in summer, otherwise they will definitely die of drought, and at the same time watering is a technical job. Watering time, watering method and watering amount all require attention.
Watering time: because of the summer high temperatures, watering must not be done at noon, and it is best in the early morning or evening every day. Do not think that watering bougainvillea at noon when it is hot will cool it down; the effect is exactly the opposite. At noon the potting soil is hot, and after watering, the roots in the pot are like being soaked in warm water. You can imagine that feeling for yourself! When the growing environment of the plant roots is poor, yellow leaves, fallen leaves and dropped flowers will naturally appear.
Watering method: in such hot weather the evaporation rate is very high. It is recommended to water once every 1-2 days, with the watering time set in the early morning or evening, and root irrigation is enough. In the morning or afternoon, if it is too dry, you can use a spray bottle to spray water around the plant to increase humidity and prevent the leaves from scorching.
Watering amount: before watering, it is best to check how dry the potting soil is. The simplest method is to use a small wooden stick (chopstick) to check the dryness and moisture, to prevent waterlogging, and each time you should water thoroughly.
2. Light:
Although bougainvillea is suitable for outdoor care, when faced with such hot weather with strong light, shading is definitely necessary. If it is exposed to too much sun, phenomena such as yellowing and scorching of the leaves will appear. It is recommended to move the pot to a shaded place for normal care.
3. Fertilizing:
When the temperature is too high, the plant's physiological cycle will slow down, and it does not need too much fertilizer. Therefore, in hot weather, do not add more fertilizer to the plant. Too much fertilizer will cause fertilizer damage to the plant, fallen leaves and yellow leaves.
When encountering hot weather in summer, the same 3 points above should be noted when growing other plants! Also, in hot weather, everyone must pay attention to your own health.
