What to Do When Phalaenopsis Orchid Flowers Wilt? Causes and Remedies

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons why Phalaenopsis orchid flowers wilt. If it is caused by overwatering, place the pot in a cool, well-ventilated spot so the excess water in the soil dries out quickly, then reduce watering. If it is caused by too much light, use a shade board to block part of the light for the plant. If it is caused by excessively high temperatures, lower the temperature around the plant.

1. Control watering

Cause: Watering too much leads to waterlogging in the soil, and this standing water interferes with the normal physiological activity of the Phalaenopsis orchid's roots, damaging them. Once the roots are damaged, they struggle to absorb nutrients, which causes the plant's petals to wilt.

Solution: If the situation is not very serious, place the pot in a cool, well-ventilated spot so the excess water in the soil dries out quickly, then reduce watering. If the situation is more serious, then the only option is to repot it.

2. Reduce light

Cause: If it is left in direct sunlight for a long time, its flowers will also be scorched by the intense light, causing them to wilt.

Solution: Move the plant indoors to a spot without direct sunlight, or use a shade board to block part of the light for the plant.

3. Lower the temperature

Cause: Excessively high temperatures are also something the plant cannot adapt to. Grown in a high-temperature environment for a long time, it will be affected and begin to wilt.

Solution: Lower the temperature around the plant, or simply move the plant indoors to a cooler spot for care.
