Can Asparagus Fern Be Propagated by Cuttings? Read This and You'll Understand
I. Whether It Is Possible
Asparagus fern can be propagated by cuttings, and this can be done year-round, though it is best to keep the cutting temperature between 20-30°C; the most suitable season is the transition period between spring and summer.
II. Cutting Method
1. Choosing the branch: For asparagus fern cuttings, you need to select a branch that is growing robustly and has plenty of foliage, make a small cut with a sterilized tool, and apply a layer of fresh moss over it. Keep it in a moist state for a period of time; after 10 days, remove the fresh moss, and a tumor-like node will grow at the cut.
2. Pruning the branch: Keep 2 side branches on the branch and prune away all the others; you also need to shorten the branch by half.
3. Inserting the branch: Prepare a cloth bag and poke a hole with a bamboo skewer; the cloth bag needs to be filled with loose soil. Insert the pruned branch to a depth of 2cm and press the soil firm.
4. Completing the cutting: Wrap the cloth bag with a gauze strip, place it in the center of the flower pot, fill it with soil, spray it thoroughly with water, and keep it in a shady spot for care; it will take root in 20-30 days.
