Do gecko bites have venom? A detailed explanation of the medicinal value and diet of geckos

What do geckos eat
Geckos have a very varied diet, mainly feeding on live small insects. They are beneficial and harmless animals. Flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, yellow mealworms and the like are all good feed for geckos. Breeders can either catch them in the wild or raise them through artificial rearing.
How long do geckos live
The lifespan of geckos is generally 5-10 years, and few exceed 10 years. Modern biology holds that the average lifespan of geckos is about 5-8 years.
Market price of geckos
The market price of geckos depends on size and is generally calculated by weight. Fresh ones usually cost 15 yuan per jin, while authentic wild dried geckos range from 300 to 500 yuan per jin. By calculation, a single adult wild dried gecko generally costs around 20 to 30 yuan, depending on a comprehensive assessment of grade, size, processing, completeness, regional market conditions and so on.
Do gecko bites have venom
1. Do geckos bite people: Geckos will not actively attack humans unless you are catching them. Although the strength is vastly unequal, a gecko will still open its mouth and fight back, but it is very weak and has no sharp teeth, so it will not cause harm to people. Therefore, under normal circumstances, geckos will not bite people. If you hurt it, it will certainly bite.
2. Are geckos venomous: Geckos themselves are not venomous, but gecko urine is toxic. Since ancient times, folk tradition has held that gecko urine is extremely toxic: if it enters the eyes, it causes blindness; if it enters the ears, it causes deafness; if it drips onto a person's body, it causes ulceration; and eating food that a gecko has crawled over can lead to poisoning and death. In ancient times, it was listed as one of the “Five Poisonous Creatures” (scorpion, snake, centipede, gecko, toad).
Medicinal value of geckos
[Nature and flavor] Salty in flavor, cold in nature, slightly toxic.
[Meridian entry] Kidney and liver meridians.
[Effects] Dispels wind, activates collaterals and dissipates masses. Used for stroke paralysis, rheumatic joint pain, osteomyelitis, lymph node tuberculosis, esophageal cancer, lung cancer, primary liver cancer, intestinal cancer, etc.
[Usage] Stir-fry and grind into fine powder, take 0.9-1.5 grams each time, or 1.5-4.5 grams decocted in water.
1. To treat paralysis with persistent swelling and pain of the hands and feet (do not use if there is no pain): opium poppy husk (honey-fried) 1 qian, dried tangerine peel 5 qian, gecko (roasted yellow), frankincense, myrrh, and licorice 2.5 qian each. Grind the above into powder. Take 3 qian each time and decoct.
2. To treat arthritis with unbearable pain: white grubs (wrapped in wet paper, roasted thoroughly, and ground) 3 pieces, gecko (ground) 3 pieces, earthworm (cleaned of mud, ground) 5 pieces, frankincense 1 fen (ground), monkshood root 3 pieces (raw, peeled), costus root 0.5 liang, musk (ground) 1 qian, tiger brain (ground) 0.5 qian. For the above eight ingredients, pound and sift monkshood root and costus root into powder, mix and grind evenly, and form into pills; if dry, add a little wine to cook a flour paste, making pills the size of parasol tree seeds. Take 30 pills each time, swallowed with frankincense wine at bedtime.
3. To treat tetanus with opisthotonos, spasmodic contraction of the tendons and vessels, and locked jaw: gecko 7 pieces (lightly roasted), rhizoma arisaematis 1 liang (cracked by roasting), nifen 1 liang, white aconite 1 liang (cracked by roasting). Pound and sift the above medicines into powder, knead with refined honey into pills the size of mung beans. Take 7 pills each time at any time, ground and swallowed with warm wine; sweating indicates effectiveness, and if there is no sweat, take again.
4. To treat long-standing epilepsy with insufficient heart blood: gecko 1 liang, pearl, musk, and borneol 1 zi each (finely ground). Take one gecko, secure it with iron pincers, cut off the four feet, grind finely together with the blood, add about 1 zi each of pearl, musk, and borneol, grind finely, and mix with mint soup as one dose. First use Duoming Powder to expel phlegm and saliva, or use an emetic method, then take this medicine.
5. To treat epilepsy due to heart deficiency: one brown gecko. Grind it thoroughly together with the blood, add a small amount of cinnabar and musk, and take it mixed with mint soup. Then continue with Erchen Tang.
6. To treat leprosy: one gecko (dried by baking), large silkworm droppings 5 sheng (sifted clean, washed twice in water, dried in the sun), white flour 4 or 5 jin, mix with the silkworm droppings to form strings and dry in the sun. Grind the above into powder. Take 1 or 2 ge each time, mixed with decocted cypress leaf soup, before meals, 3 times a day.
7. To treat scrofula at the initial stage: one gecko, roasted and ground. Take half a fen daily, swallowed with wine.
8. To treat severe pain from abscesses and sores: dry geckos by baking and grind into powder, mix with oil and apply.
9. To treat regurgitation and diaphragmatic qi: ground pond insects 7 pieces (stir-fried until scorched in a sand pot), costus root, ginseng, and cinnabar 1.5 qian each, frankincense 1 qian, grind into powder, and make honey pills the size of parasol tree seeds. Take 7 pills each time, swallowed with costus root soup, once in the morning and once in the evening.
