Growing flowers has gradually become a choice for more and more modern people in their spare time. For many friends who are just starting to get into plants, they often make many basic mistakes; for example, when it is more suitable to plant which plants is often something many friends do not know. So today I will introduce 5 kinds of flowers that are not suitable for planting in summer. If you are preparing to grow plants, you should check whether you have stepped on a landmine.

1. Chinese rose

The Chinese rose (Rosa chinensis) is believed to be one of the plants that many people have grown. Because of its rich variety, abundant flower colors, and ornamental value that few flowers can match, many biologists have bred batch after batch of precious Chinese rose varieties through hybridization. However, planting Chinese roses in summer is not a wise choice. Because summer temperatures are relatively high, although Chinese roses need and love light during growth, their weak heat tolerance determines that Chinese roses are not suitable for growing in a hot climate. At the same time, when the temperature is above 35 degrees, Chinese roses often enter a dormant state, thereby stopping their growth and causing their development to stagnate. In addition, their water demand is also relatively high, and in summer, water in potted plants evaporates much faster than usual, so even a little inattention may cause a relatively large impact on their growth due to lack of water.

2. Clivia

Clivia is also called Natal lily, and it is a plant belonging to tropical regions. But by reason, its heat tolerance should be good. Actually, that is not the case. It itself fears both high temperatures and cold, so planting Clivia in summer is a very troublesome matter. It is suitable for growing in a semi-shaded environment, and not suitable for cultivation under long periods of direct sunlight. On the contrary, summer is exactly when the sunlight is most intense. If the potted plant is placed in semi-shade to grow, it seems to solve the lighting problem, but it also causes another problem, namely pests and diseases. The disease resistance of Clivia at the seedling stage is simply terrible. If it grows in a relatively dry summer, it is very easy to cause certain diseases.

3. Iris

Whether potted or planted in the open ground, the iris has very good ornamental value. In daily life, it often appears in flowerbeds, gardens, and other places, or appears as a landscaping plant on both sides of roads; its flowers are also relatively unique, and when blooming they are quite similar to butterflies, so it is also welcomed by everyone. The reason iris is not suitable for planting in summer is that it is more suitable for growing in spring and early summer, when the temperature is not high; by midsummer, when the temperature begins to rise gradually, especially when the temperature is above 30 degrees, iris is very prone to withering, and at this time its flowering period has already passed, so it needs to be cultivated for a long period before its flowering period arrives. Therefore, iris is not suitable for planting in summer.

4. Persian buttercup

Persian buttercup is also called celery flower, because its leaves are relatively similar to celery leaves, hence the name celery flower. Its flower colors are also relatively rich, with colors such as white, yellow, purple, and pink. At the same time, its plant shape is relatively short, so it is more suitable for planting in patches on the sides of buildings. If you want to plant Persian buttercup, then the environmental temperature cannot be too high, and the air humidity must be kept above 80%. The summer temperature is relatively high, which is not very acceptable for the warmth-loving Persian buttercup, and the most important point is that it usually enters dormancy after June, so planting Persian buttercup in summer is not suitable.

5. Cyclamen

Cyclamen is also often called rabbit flower by people. It must be cultivated in a mild environment. In summer, its growth enters a semi-dormant state, and when the temperature reaches above 35 degrees, its rhizome is prone to rotting, thereby causing the plant to die.
