How to Grow Mimosa pudica? Detailed Guide to Care Methods and Precautions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
To grow Mimosa pudica (sensitive plant), you need to provide it with soil rich in nutrients with good aeration and drainage, moist soil conditions, ample sunlight, and a temperature range of 20-28°C. It is best to fertilize it once a month to supply the nutrients it needs for growth. Its main pest is slugs; once spotted, you can scatter some lime powder to control them.

I. Growing Conditions

1. Soil: Mimosa pudica likes to grow in soil with relatively high nutrient content and good aeration and drainage. For home cultivation, it can be made by mixing leaf mold and garden soil.

2. Water: It likes moist soil conditions. Normally, the pot soil needs to be kept moist. In summer, you need to water it promptly and must not let the soil dry out. In winter, reduce watering to prevent it from frost damage.

3. Light: It likes relatively ample sunlight. When growing it, it is best to place it on a balcony so it gets plenty of sunlight.

4. Fertilizing: Its growth requires nutrient support, so when growing it, you need to apply some fertilizer once a month. However, be careful not to apply too much fertilizer, otherwise its roots may be burned by the excess fertilizer.

5. Temperature: Its optimal growing temperature is 20-28°C. In winter, you need to move it indoors and adjust the temperature to above 10°C, otherwise it may be damaged by the cold.

II. Pest and Disease Control

It rarely suffers from pests and diseases, but slugs may still appear. Once spotted, you can scatter some lime powder to control them.
