Soil: The money tree (Pachira aquatica) is suited to growing in slightly acidic soil with good aeration, relatively high nutrient content, and good drainage. Temperature: Keep the temperature above 20°C normally, and above 5°C in winter. Light: It needs sufficient light; indoor plants need shading in summer. Water: Keep the soil slightly moist; do not water too much.

1. Soil

The money tree (Pachira aquatica) is suited to growing in slightly acidic soil with good aeration, relatively high nutrient content, and good drainage. Do not use alkaline soil when cultivating it, otherwise it will find it hard to grow healthily.

2. Temperature

It prefers relatively warm temperature conditions; normally it is best to keep the temperature above 20°C. In winter it needs to be moved indoors and the temperature kept above 5°C, otherwise it may be damaged by frost.

3. Light

If grown indoors, it needs to be placed in a spot with plenty of sunlight and must not go without sun for long periods; in summer it needs appropriate shading to prevent its leaves from being scorched. If grown outdoors, it can be given full sun.

4. Water

It is relatively prone to waterlogging, so watering must be done carefully and not too much. Before watering, check the soil first; if it is not dry, you can hold off on watering. Normally, just keep the soil slightly moist.
