Because of the huge variety of succulents, they are called "the cutest plants in history" and are deeply loved by people. But did you know that during care, these 5 major misconceptions often appear.
Misconception 1: The environment is not well ventilated
If the air in the succulent's growing environment is not circulating, after we water it, the potting soil does not dry easily, and the succulent often grows in a humid state, which makes it very easy for bacteria to develop. This is also the main cause of black rot and mushy rot in succulents.
Misconception 2: Watering onto the succulent
Some succulent lovers will accidentally pour water onto the succulent, or when it rains they do not have time to bring it back indoors, letting the dewdrops stay in the succulent's flower center for a while longer. Then after the sun rises, you will find that the succulent that was originally fine has been scorched by the sun, because after the dewdrops are exposed to high temperatures they can burn the succulent!
If we do not have time to bring the succulent back indoors before it rains, then after the rain we must definitely remove the water droplets on the succulent, or move the succulent indoors right after the rain, and wait until the dewdrops have mostly evaporated before moving the succulent back out. This can prevent the succulent from being scorched by the sun.
Misconception 3: Misunderstanding "water thoroughly when dry"
For flower lovers who like growing flowers and plants, "water thoroughly when dry" is more than familiar. "Water thoroughly when dry" has almost become an ironclad rule for watering in the plant world. Many people who care for plants tell you this: no matter which plant it is, watering means water thoroughly when dry. But this rule really does not suit succulent care in summer. In summer, when watering succulents, you absolutely must not water thoroughly!
In summer, when the dog days arrive, if we water the succulent thoroughly, and add the heat of these recent dog days, the succulent may very likely develop black rot the next day, and the roots can easily suffocate. When caring for succulents, you must water according to the actual situation. As long as our succulent environment changes, the care method should change accordingly. So succulent lovers should observe their own environment more and grow succulents according to their own environment, so they can grow good succulents.
