Sachie Muramatsu, Japanese lighting artist and craftsperson, lives in Tokyo.

After graduating from university, she joined the famous Kaga Yuzen workshop in Kanazawa, exploring the value and applications of Japanese washi paper in contemporary life.

Starting in 2003, Muramatsu applied washi paper and Kaga Yuzen techniques to lamps, creating hard washi paper lamps. Although they were also beautiful, they could not show the translucency and flexibility of washi paper.

Later, inspired by nature, Muramatsu began using the dyeability and plasticity of washi paper to create unique flower-shaped paper lamps, which not only made the lamps more decorative but also brought home spaces to life, and quickly became popular online for their exquisite shapes and fine decorative quality.

Afterward, Muramatsu was not satisfied with the status quo, but continuously explored and improved, making the washi paper flower lamps more practical and beautiful, and letting the flowers sway and bloom together with the light.

Today I am not only sharing Sachie Muramatsu's new washi paper lamps, but also a tutorial made by "Make Something," so you can not only see the process of making a flower lamp, but also try making one yourself.
