The queen of vegetables, delicious and highly nutritious, you can grow a few pots at home! Broccoli, hailed as the "queen of vegetables," is a very popular vegetable with a delicious taste, extremely high and comprehensive nutritional value, and high medicinal value, with anti-cancer properties. It is rich in protein, sugar, fat, and has a very complete range of vitamins, and its mineral content is more comprehensive than that of other vegetables. Many people believe that broccoli grown at home is safer and more delicious. Let's take a look at how to grow broccoli.

Broccoli can be harvested twice from one planting. Mastering some broccoli growing methods can give you more broccoli florets at harvest. How do you grow broccoli? Let's talk about it from three aspects: soil, fertilizing, and growing environment.

1. Soil. Broccoli does not have high requirements for soil conditions. Loam and sandy loam with good drainage, deep soil, loose and fertile texture, and strong water and fertilizer retention are ideal, and ordinary garden soil will do. To get good broccoli yield and quality, the soil should not be too poor or too fertile. During the growing period, loosen the soil often and remove weeds.

2. Fertilizer. Broccoli does not have a high demand for fertilizer. Chicken manure and plant ash can be used as base fertilizer; topdressing only needs to be applied twice. The first topdressing is 2 weeks after planting, mixing nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer with the soil while adding more soil around the plants. The second topdressing is applied when harvesting the first central head, mixing 10 grams of fertilizer with the soil. Pruning and harvesting the heads are done at the same time; when harvesting the central head, that is when you prune. For the first broccoli harvest, do not snap it off directly by hand. Use a knife or scissors to harvest, to prevent damaging the tissue of the stem and affecting the harvest of the second round of side florets, which helps the second harvest of side florets.
