The courage to love

From the end of the high school entrance exam until now, I have not had a single day of rest. Finally I stole half a day of leisure and hurried to tidy up my succulents. In the 40-degree heat, there are scorched leaves every day.

First, a spring photo. Miss Summer comes stepping over the corpses of succulents, weighing empty pots in her hands, and those that remain are all living stubbornly, born as humble greens.

Next, let me introduce myself. I am Teacher Xiao Han, who wrote in the previous article, "It has no Juliet, and I have no Romeo" (see the succulent encyclopedia post from 2018.3.5, "I Only Know I Pour My Heart Into This, Not Knowing Succulents Heal My Wounds!"). Although within a month of the article being published, my Romeo turned to water and black rot. Today I am not a succulent newbie here; I am an older unmarried noblewoman.

There is no age at which one should marry, only a love that one should marry for, and I have the pride and confidence not to dread marriage even if I wait until I am thirty, a new woman of the new era who is economically independent, spiritually independent, capable in both literary and practical matters, able to carry things and move them. However... it is not only my parents who worry about my marriage, but also my students... I am a goddess in my students' eyes and a female lunatic in reality. In their eyes, as long as I wear new clothes, I am going on a blind date, and every weekend they always remind me to remember to go on a date.??? They often lecture me: use the energy you spend fussing over succulents to dress yourself up a bit, okay!!!

Here are two sets of photos, the real me:

Me in my students' imagination.

Our healing succulents have accompanied me for two years. I have smoothed off my sharp edges and understood that there is no such thing as fate in this world, only the steadfastness of warming each other and not separating. Only after losing do we grow up.

In the days that followed, I met someone who did not give up after a week of my cold words and did not get angry. Someone who did not even know what mealybugs are, when I said I could not find a large bucket of alcohol to kill mealybugs, went out at one in the afternoon under the 36-degree sun to buy it for me. When I said a kind of green worm was eating the leaves of my Laura, he consulted experts himself and mixed the medicine for me. For someone like me who no longer expected love, such a person quietly appeared in my life. Before, I met someone who, seeing my room full of succulents, told me that after we married I could only choose six pots to take with me. But now, my succulents getting bugs and my students going hungry are all big and urgent matters in his eyes, which suddenly overwhelmed me with pleasant surprise.

You see, succulents can also help us grow a pair of sharp eyes. Knowing I like lotus flowers, at noon he jumped into the fence by the pond, lay on the concrete ground, picked them, and delivered them to my doorstep. I reject the matter of breaking flowers and snapping branches in my heart, but receiving such a bouquet, I cannot describe my excitement. Watching them quietly wait to bloom, tears fell without my realizing it. It had been a long time since I cried tears because of happiness. It was probably from this time that I opened my heart.

What gift could be more precious than this?

In 40-degree weather, when out on business, he still did not forget to go to the greenhouse to buy me succulents. He actually spent fifty on this Echeveria 'Crystal' - clumsily cute.

Here is a front photo, using its diameter to prove his clumsiness.

A pot I put together myself; I gave him the same one.

The platycodon he gave me. He probably does not know that platycodon represents eternal love.

The lily I gave him???

Having such someone waiting for me in such a period is indeed like summer succulents: not gorgeous, but as long as it lives healthily, that is enough. He does not have to be romantic; as long as he truly treats you well, that is enough. How many corpses of succulents do we step over before we raise our beloved plants well, and how many storms do we go through before we wait for the person who shelters us from wind and rain.

My favorite, Laura. Afraid that the 40-degree heat would damage it, I put it in an air-conditioned room, and the next day it became like this, sunburned into black spots. When autumn comes, it will be a fine succulent again!

How it looked in the winter of 2017.

Echeveria 'Lovely Rose'; I have given it all the beautiful words, even the flower stalk is showing off affection.

Another one.

A leaf-propagated Mingyue, my own offspring.

Echeveria 'Benbadis'; how happy it is for a family to be reunited.

Echeveria 'Onslow'

Echeveria 'Peach Blossom', the last variety I collected.

Still my pot of gourd, always guarding me?.

Sedum 'Chiyoda no Matsu', always green, but the subtle markings are truly likable.

Echeveria 'Pink Ruby'; I just trimmed the roots. There is a huge underground kingdom in the pot, all white. Keep it up; grow strong and sturdy.

My Echeveria 'Ice Plum'; like me, she is an unrestrained girl.

Echeveria 'Ebony' hybrid, with clean little claws.

A tenacious succulent, the Echeveria 'Dark Ice' my uncle gave me. It fell into glue, and after he gave it to me I forgot about it again; it was stifled in a bag for three days before I planted it. It will soon become beautiful again.

The three Echeveria 'White Phoenix' sisters; when they arrived, they were all on the verge of death.

Echeveria 'Cute Rose'; it lost color in summer. It does not matter; it can still bless all love.

Echeveria 'Afterglow', elegant, refined, and delicate.

Cotyledon tomentosa 'Bear's Paw'; although we are not the most bewitching bear, we are chubby. It is probably a male bear; it never blooms.

Born as a bird, one must want to compete in height with Heaven itself.

The blue bird from back then.

So succulents tell us that we must keep our eyes open, and then patiently wait for love.

Sedum 'Little Star'; it colors quickly and does not fade easily. That is the kind of boyfriend to look for.

Echeveria 'Snow Lotus'; others call it a summer-survival expert, but in my hands none survive. This one has already lived long enough.

The two below both died:

The not-at-all-delicate Echeveria 'Shoyan'; is it about to revert to an ancestral form?

Echeveria 'Lipstick'; my lipstick follows me, always reluctant to apply too much. In 2017 it was especially popular to give a girlfriend lipstick; will this kind of lipstick be trendy this year?

My Echeveria 'Wax Peony'; it has already sprouted many small heads. I look forward to my love blooming and bearing fruit, and you should also have many children and grandchildren.

Echeveria 'Allen'; let others go to their ten-li peach grove. With you, my heart can no longer hold any other peach (idiot).

This is how it looked when I first bought it a year and a half ago. Bear with the quality; I used a phone to photograph a phone, and the original image is gone.

Echeveria 'Blue Velvet', with transparent edges and a super aloof style. Maybe like me, once melted by being moved, it is also a silly one.

Echeveria 'Gorgeous Windmill'; the carved pattern on the flower pot is missing a petal, and the boss insisted on selling it to me, telling me to paint a color on it myself when I got home. And I, if I like it, will tolerate its flaws.

Echeveria 'Green Claw'; the pot is pretty, and the succulent is beautiful too.

Echeveria 'Cupid', a heroic mother.

Leaf-propagated Echeveria 'Opalina'; one always likes one's own offspring more.

For the sake of the flower pots, please ignore these vegetables. One flower pot was also broken in one spot, and the boss sold it to me telling me to paint it myself. Can everyone find where it is?

I always feel it is Echeveria 'Orange Monroe', but the seller did not know what it was called either. Experts, please enlighten me.

Lilium 'Lily'; an untidy little girl. But I really like the feeling of a full pot, so I bought four and planted them together.

Echeveria 'Qiluo'; as long as it is alive, that is enough.

My Echeveria 'Alba Green Moon Shadow'. It was so green that I searched for information and searched Taobao several times. One rain washed away all the gold edging I had painted on the flower pot.

Echeveria 'Guanghan Palace', in disarray. The day after I took the photo, a strong wind blew over the wooden board and pressed it onto the little fairy. I was at school attending a seminar and did not go to the balcony when I returned. After a day and a night, it had already turned black. I was so anxious that I cried while moving the board. I could not help telling him, and instead of sweet words to coax me, his first sentence was that he wanted to come to my home to secure the wooden board for me.

TP; this one would probably taste good dipped in sesame paste.

Echeveria 'Snow Bunny', a dreamy name.

My pocket-sized vegetable garden.

Echeveria 'Flower Moon Night'; I like this kind of large cluster the most.

My Sempervivum 'Guanyin Lotus' is always so willful. It never cares whether it colors up; we just focus on making babies.

A group photo to celebrate that everyone is still alive in the summer of 2018.

It was right here that he made a shade frame for me and said he wanted to help me take care of the succulents together. If someone truly treats you well, you really cannot resist. I do not know whether he is Romeo. Afraid of disappointment, I am unwilling to pray for the future; cherishing the present is enough.

07.11, the second day of coming to attend summer training, he came to see me in the drizzle. Holding an umbrella, we went to Yuxi Park to see the lotus flowers. In the quiet lotus pond, in the misty drizzle, in the little pavilion, he put a ring on my finger.

I have had a wish for many years: may the person who marries me in the future be the peerless hero who accompanies me to see the lotus bloom across the pond. May we not fail this pond full of blooming lotus.
