After a Kalanchoe (kalanchoe blossfeldiana) finishes blooming, cut it back twice and add a little something extra, and it can keep blooming several more times

Kalanchoe is a very easy-to-grow flowering plant. Whether on a balcony, outdoors, or in the living room, as long as there is light, it will bloom beautifully, and its flowering period is quite long. With proper care, it basically blooms all year round, but many gardeners' kalanchoes basically stop blooming after flowering just once. What should be done?
Actually, it is very simple. You only need to do 2 things to keep kalanchoe blooming all year round, and those are frequent pruning and keeping up with fertilizer! How exactly to do it? Let's take a look at today's share about kalanchoe care!
1. Prune kalanchoe promptly after it finishes blooming, and it will rebloom faster.
Kalanchoe pruning method: For pruning done before July, leave about 3 cm of stem, and the rest can all be cut off. Before long, the kalanchoe will grow many tender shoots. Afterward, keep the plant within 10-15 cm, and anything beyond that can be removed. After the end of September, do not prune anymore, because the kalanchoe begins to form buds and prepare to bloom.
Besides heavy pruning, you can also do light pruning. For light pruning, simply cut off the spent flowers from the second pair of leaves counting downward from the top.
2. Fertilizing
After pruning, place the kalanchoe in a ventilated spot with bright, indirect light for a week, and then you can fertilize. A light fertilizer is enough. The easiest option is to apply a compound fertilizer, just a few granules will do. Of course, if the pot is too small and nutrients are insufficient, you can repot and change the soil while pruning. When repotting, you can add plenty of base fertilizer, and bone meal fertilizer and the like are quite good.
Note that kalanchoe is relatively drought-tolerant. In summer it enters dormancy, so water must be controlled. Be careful of waterlogging and root rot. Generally, water only when the potting soil has completely turned pale and dried out.
As long as you do the above 2 things, kalanchoe can very easily bloom all year round. That is all for sharing the tips on kalanchoe care. If you like it, share it with more gardeners!
