Caring for orchids not only calms the mind, but also cultivates your character, and most importantly, it gives you a sense of success. But because each plant has its own characteristics and different requirements for the environment, their care methods are also different.

Many friends who grow orchids say that caring for orchids in summer is really a bit puzzling. Orchids either get scorched tips or yellow leaves, and some even get root rot. In response to this situation, the editor today will discuss it with everyone. Some flower enthusiasts always say that their orchids, after being grown for only a short time, get yellow leaves and root rot. In fact, as long as you master these two key points for orchids, they are as easy to grow as pothos.

The first is the soil mix for orchids. The soil mix for orchids must be loose, breathable, well-draining, and also nutritious. So how can you make an orchid potting medium suitable for orchid growth? Usually, I use a combination of coarse and fine materials to mix soil for orchids. For the coarse materials, I use volcanic stone, pine bark, pine cones, and pine needles, while for the fine material, I use a general-purpose humus soil that I mix myself.

Then choose a flowerpot. Usually, when we care for orchids, we should choose ceramic flowerpots to grow orchids. It is best not to use plastic or resin flowerpots, because such flowerpots have relatively poor drainage. After preparing these coarse and fine potting materials, we mix the coarse and fine materials evenly in a 1:1 ratio and then we can pot the orchids.

The second is to choose a suitable environment for the orchids. Friends who grow orchids all know that orchids are flowers with fleshy roots. Usually in the wild environment, orchids mainly receive scattered light. Therefore, when growing orchids, place the orchids in a ventilated and breathable place, and do not let sunlight shine directly on the orchids. Also, orchids are shade-loving flowers, so it is enough to place them in a relatively moist place.

Another thing to note is that if you want the orchids to bloom more and bloom well, you should apply a special orchid nutrient solution to the orchids before they bloom. Likewise, you should water the orchids reasonably. If you cannot grasp the right amount of watering, just choose a soil moisture meter and it can be easily handled.
