The jade plant (Crassula ovata) is a green plant loved by many flower enthusiasts. Its crown is tall and elegant, vigorous and rustic, with thick, plump leaves as smooth and clean as jasper. When it blooms in profusion, the green and white intermingle, making it very beautiful.

For a good-looking jade plant, pruning is very important. Today, Hua'er will introduce to everyone these techniques you need to know for pruning a jade plant, then "mound soil" for care, making it lush and truly beautiful!

The jade plant grows somewhat slowly. Generally, pruning should be done after it has reached 3 years or more, so it can grow more vigorously. When pruning, observe the overall growth of the plant. When there are not many branches, keep more of the relatively sturdy branches, and prune away the weak, leggy side branches as well.

During the growth process, there will always be a branch or two that grows faster, which inhibits the growth of side branches. At this point, you need to pinch off its top, removing apical dominance to encourage fuller growth. Also, properly remove some of the leaves at the bottom to cultivate it into an old stump, increasing the plant's ornamental value.

Note one thing: every time you prune, do it on a sunny day so it recovers quickly and avoids wound infection and the like.

About every half year, you should do a "soil mounding" for the jade plant, using leaf mold as the main base soil, mixing in some loam, plant ash and bone meal, stirring thoroughly, then adding it directly to the flower pot, piling it higher at the top and gradually lowering it toward the edge of the pot. This "soil mounding" is more effective than fertilizing, allowing the jade plant's roots to grow better and encouraging the plant to grow more vigorously.

The care of the jade plant is introduced here. If flower enthusiasts have other additions, you can share them with everyone in the comment section below. To learn more about flower-growing knowledge, you can follow Hua Jian Ke!
