Schefflera, also known as umbrella tree, is a flowering plant that many people love, with emerald green evergreen leaves, a graceful and compact shape, and it can also purify the air, with an excellent effect on absorbing formaldehyde and nicotine.

But when caring for Schefflera, yellow leaves are the most common problem. I ruthlessly cut it back to a bald stump, new leaves grew in ten days, and in two months it was lush and green again. Take a look with me!

Last year at my hometown home I had a pot of Schefflera. When I bought it, it was very dense and green, but due to poor care, all the leaves turned yellow, which was very unsightly. But when I checked the roots, they were not damaged, so I cut off all the leaves, cut it back to a bald stump, placed it in a shady spot, and watered it normally. Unexpectedly, new leaves grew in ten days.

Later, to speed up growth, I buried a few urea granules in the soil, so that when watering, the urea would dissolve and the nutrients would slowly seep in, providing nutrients to the roots. As a result, the tender leaves grew nonstop, very green and lush, even better than when I bought it. Now two months have passed, and it is so lush and beautiful!

So why do Schefflera leaves turn yellow?

Although Schefflera can absorb nicotine from secondhand smoke, if you smoke around it for a long time, it is easy for its leaves to be unable to breathe, and over time, the leaves will gradually turn yellow and fall off.

Moreover, Schefflera likes light. The more ample the sunlight, the more it helps synthesize chlorophyll, and only then will the leaves be more emerald green and glossy. So in normal care, place it in a sunny position, and also strengthen ventilation!
