Right now is the flowering season for Arabian jasmine and orange jasmine, and I have already seen quite a few flower lovers sharing theirs. When these two flowers bloom, the whole house is filled with fragrance, which really makes others envious! But some are happy and some are worried. Why do your Arabian jasmine and orange jasmine bloom less than other people's? Hurry up and take a look. Learning just 1 trick is enough!

Arabian jasmine

You may have noticed that after you buy Arabian jasmine and take it home, it blooms less and less, and some even drop their buds... It is not that Arabian jasmine is hard to grow, it is that you have not found the right method!

1. Soil

Newly bought Arabian jasmine is prone to problems during the adaptation period. For example, the bumps along the way when shopping online can cause bud drop and leaf drop; when bought from a flower market, the pot is simple plastic and the soil is not very good either. These are all normal. After taking it home, do not water it first. Wait until the soil is dry, then prepare to repot and change the soil.

Arabian jasmine likes breathable, fertile acidic soil. The best mix is nutrient soil (leaf mold also works): sandy soil: perlite = 5:3:3, mixed together for use.

2. Add base fertilizer

When repotting Arabian jasmine, move it together with the original root ball. Do not damage the roots. At the bottom of the pot, put some slow-release fertilizer, crushed eggshells, horse hoof, bone meal, etc. These can all serve as base fertilizer, and then later flowering will be much smoother.

3. Sufficient light

Except for newly bought Arabian jasmine and newly repotted Arabian jasmine, which should be cared for in diffused light, normally it should be placed in a sunny place. The more sun it gets, the tougher it becomes. In summer, if the high temperature reaches above 36°C, you can provide shade at noon. Absolutely do not put it in an air-conditioned room. With one cold and one hot, it would be a wonder if it did not die!

4. Water thoroughly after drying out

Arabian jasmine likes water. Every time you water, you must water thoroughly. As for exactly how often to water, it is best to judge according to your own home conditions. If the leaves look a bit wilted, water immediately. After doing this a few times, you will grasp the pattern. On rainy days, water a little less, because rainy days have high humidity and weak evaporation, and if you water the same as on sunny days, it is easy to cause root rot.

I suggest that before using tap water to water, first leave it in a basin for 1 day to let the chlorine dissipate before using it. Or collect rainwater, air conditioner condensate water, or water changed from a fish tank, let it settle for 1 day, and then water the flowers. Arabian jasmine really likes these acidic waters. If your environment is good, water from rivers and lakes is also fine.

5. Proper topdressing

If you want Arabian jasmine to bloom more, the most direct method is to spray monopotassium phosphate on the leaves. This is a common flower-promoting agent, generally sold in flower shops. Spray once a week, and it will bloom quickly and abundantly.

Besides foliar fertilizer, you can also mix some worm castings, decomposed melon and fruit fertilizer, or fish and shrimp fertilizer into the pot every half a month. Worm castings need to be found in the suburbs; for melon and fruit fertilizer and fish and shrimp fertilizer, bury fruit peels, fish, and shrimp in the soil. In summer, compost for 1 month until fully rotted into nutrient soil before use. Generally, flowering plants can all use it.

6. Pruning

For Arabian jasmine to bloom, 70 percent depends on pruning! After each flowering, cut off 5-8 cm long flowering branches, and more buds will soon grow, eventually branching out and producing more flower buds. Pruned this way, Arabian jasmine can bloom 3-5 times a year. If you do not believe it, try it~

Orange jasmine

Orange jasmine is blooming profusely right now, and its fragrance can rival Arabian jasmine. When it blooms, the whole yard is fragrant, and even the neighbors can smell it. I wonder if yours has bloomed yet?

1. Best to buy locally

Many flower lovers complain that newly bought orange jasmine tends to drop leaves. Actually, it is just not adapting to the local conditions. I think for flowers with weak adaptability like orange jasmine, it is best to buy them locally. Especially for flower lovers in the north, be sure to pay attention~

2. Add acid

When orange jasmine is grown for a while, its leaves turn yellow. There are two main reasons: one is overwatering, and the other is excessive alkalinity. Orange jasmine likes acid, so it is necessary to regularly water it with ferrous sulfate solution. This point is similar to gardenia. Flower lovers whose orange jasmine and gardenia have yellow leaves at home should try it quickly.

3. Sufficient light

Orange jasmine likes light, and summer is no exception. It must get sun in the morning and evening. From 12 noon to 2 pm, you can provide shade. Also, do not suddenly move it into an air-conditioned room, or it will easily die!

4. Ventilation, ventilation

Orange jasmine must be grown in a ventilated environment, otherwise in summer it is prone to growing some small white powder. This is algal leaf spot caused by stuffy, unventilated conditions. Wash it off with a showerhead and then place it in a ventilated spot on a balcony or windowsill.

5. Add fertilizer

Orange jasmine can also be sprayed with foliar fertilizer: monopotassium phosphate, once a week. You can also water it with some nutrient solution. Flower lovers who do not want to buy fertilizer can also make their own. Many fertilizers can be used.

Break up the soybean cake, sesame cake, and rapeseed cake left after oil pressing, soak them in water, and compost in summer for 15-20 days until ready (note: open the lid to release gas). Dilute the fertilizer water with water (1:2000) and water the orange jasmine with it, 2 times a week. The orange jasmine will grow more and more vigorously.

Or mix chicken and duck powder into the soil and bury it for 1 month to decompose into nutrient soil. Mix 10-20 g into the orange jasmine pot each month. It is also a very good nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer. It must be fully decomposed before use!
