Many plant lovers have been worrying lately - summer isn't even half over, and the succulents at home are already down to empty pots! Today, Huahua takes everyone to see those succulents that thrive even without care - the comparison is just heartbreaking!

The wall-climbing Pachyveria 'Clavifolia'

Growing Flowers Encyclopedia

The first one Huahua has to mention is, of course, the tough and thick-skinned Pachyveria 'Clavifolia'! On rooftops, along eaves - Pachyveria 'Clavifolia' is everywhere. At this climbing speed, within 1-2 years, it will conquer the entire roof!

Pachyveria 'Clavifolia' can be considered one of the more resilient succulents. Toss it casually into the yard, and going from one plant to a whole patch is no big deal at all!

Care tips:

1. Pachyveria 'Clavifolia' loves sunlight, so it should normally be placed on a sunny south-facing balcony to get plenty of sun. Of course, if it's planted in the yard, there's nothing to worry about at all.

2. Pay attention to ventilation in summer. If you need to water, it's best to wait until the potting soil is completely dry before watering.

The wall-climbing cactus - no need to buy security bars!

Growing Flowers Encyclopedia

The first time Huahua saw a wall-climbing cactus, there was simply no way to describe it. With a cactus like this climbing the wall at home, you could even save on security bars!

The cactus is truly an incredibly easy plant to grow. If Huahua says even a plant killer can grow it well, surely no one would argue with that?

Care tips:

1. Cacti are drought-tolerant, so the soil must be loose, breathable, sandy soil to prevent water accumulation in the pot from causing root rot.

2. Cacti have relatively low fertilizer needs. Applying a nitrogen-containing liquid fertilizer about once every 2-3 months is enough, and supplementing a bit of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer is sufficient.

The wall-climbing Graptopetalum paraguayense - no need to buy curtains!

Growing Flowers Encyclopedia

Equally easy to grow as Pachyveria 'Clavifolia' and also perfect as a curtain, it has to be Graptopetalum paraguayense! Hang a pot on the balcony, and without any care from you, it will quickly trail down and become a curtain!

The leaves of Graptopetalum paraguayense are very thick and fleshy. Casually pull off a leaf and toss it into the soil, and it will quickly sprout - it's simply the fighter jet among common succulents!

Care tips:

1. Graptopetalum paraguayense loves sunlight. If you want it to grow vigorously, be sure to place it in the spot with the best light at home and let it receive plenty of sunshine.

2. If you notice dried old leaves on Graptopetalum paraguayense, remove them promptly to prevent bacteria from breeding and causing black rot.

Orostachys in every nook and cranny - too many to count!

Growing Flowers Encyclopedia

Huahua still remembers that when going back to the old house a while ago, succulents were actually popping up one by one on the old house. Looking closely, they turned out to be Orostachys!

When it comes to the most common succulent in rural areas, it has to be Orostachys! On rooftops, in rock crevices, even in the mountains - Orostachys can be seen everywhere!

Care tips:

1. If you dig up Orostachys from a rooftop or the wild and just toss it on the balcony or in the yard, it will grow vigorously without you having to do much at all!

2. To prevent water accumulation and root rot in Orostachys, mix more sand into the potting soil to achieve a loose and breathable texture.

Speaking of this, Huahua will share a few more photos of succulents on rooftops. Huahua once heard a friend say that in his area, people just pull up succulents to feed the chickens. Huahua was dumbfounded at the time!

That's all Huahua has to share for today.

Do any of you plant lovers have succulents growing on your rooftops?

Let Huahua take a look too!
