In summer, there is a kind of flower that defies color and blooms nonstop, and that is bougainvillea. Basically, the more light it gets, the better it blooms, but some flower lovers have found that their bougainvillea does not bloom or blooms little. What is going on? Today, Bai Xiaomei'er shares with everyone a bougainvillea care tip: by doing just one thing right, you can make it bloom continuously all year round.

If you want bougainvillea to bloom well, there is one thing you must do right, and that is water control. With good water control, bougainvillea blooms well. First, let's look at the specific water control method for bougainvillea:

According to the size of the flowerpot, stop watering before the flowering period. After the leaves wilt from lack of water for one or two days, water with half the usual amount, or sprinkle some water. Then, after the leaves perk up, repeat the previous step. Repeat this for about two to three weeks. The purpose of water control is to make the bougainvillea show a state of leaf wilting, without sprouting and growing new leaves, so that all the plant's nutrients are supplied to the old leaves, promoting branch maturity and flower bud differentiation.

Note: Do not fertilize during the water control period. Under drought conditions, fertilizer absorption is poor and can also damage the roots. In addition, water control should be moderate; just make the leaves wilt. Do not control water excessively, which can cause the plant to die.

Generally, the water control period is about 3 weeks, so we usually need to start water control about 40 days before the flowering period. Fellow flower lovers, arrange the water control time according to your own schedule.

Supplement: After the water control ends, do not forget to water thoroughly and supplement fertilizer, once every 2 weeks.

In addition to controlling water well, if you want bougainvillea to grow well, when planting we must choose loose, breathable, well-draining soil, and ensure 10 to 12 hours of sunlight every day. With strong light and good ventilation, the bougainvillea flowering period can even reach 180 to 200 days.

Have you learned the water control method for bougainvillea? Flower lovers whose bougainvillea does not bloom well at home can give it a try, and you are also welcome to leave a message to share your care tips.
