Every Valentine's Day and on the day of 520, roses in flower shops sell especially well, because young people nowadays buy roses to give to their girlfriends on all kinds of holidays. But as a woman, receiving roses makes you very happy, yet after a few days the roses wilt, which leaves us with mixed feelings. So what methods can make roses stay fresh for a few more days? Actually, doing these things is enough.

After receiving the roses, if you want them to last longer, you have to unwrap the bouquet. This is a very troublesome step, because the roses are wrapped very tightly by the people at the flower shop, so when we unwrap them, we should go slowly and gently so as not to damage the base of the stems. After unwrapping, cut off the leaves at the bottom, because the bottom leaves will rot after being soaked in water.

Next we need to take the roses out one by one, then use scissors to cut a small slit at the bottom, cutting at a slant. That way, if we put them in water, the area touching the water is larger, so they can absorb more water and keep their freshness.

To keep roses fresh, we need to choose a suitable vase; it is not that any container holding water will do. Although all vases can hold water, glass bottles are the best, and the glass bottle should be deep, because it needs to hold a lot of water, at least able to hold one liter of water. Why must we choose a glass bottle? Because bacteria rarely grow on glass bottles, that is, they are relatively cleaner.

Vases made of other materials are prone to growing bacteria, or will cause bacteria to grow in the water. When we fill the vase with water, the water is best if it is tap water, because tap water has the best quality. If the water quality is poor, it may make the rose stems become very soft.

In fact, once a rose bouquet leaves its roots and stems, it will age and die, mainly because there is no root system to supply it with enough nutrients. So to delay its aging and death, we can artificially supplement some nutrients for it, for example sprinkling some nutrient solution into the water, which can replenish the nutrients the roses need and extend their life a bit more.

After we put the flowers into the vase, it is not that we just leave them alone. We also need to tie them together with string; we cannot use things like wire, because such materials easily damage the stems of the flowers. So it is best to use some soft cloth strips to tie them up. Why tie them up? On one hand, it is for looks, because if each flower is placed separately, it will look very ugly and unorganized, but if they are tied together, it looks very nice. On the other hand, it is also because if they are together, their water-absorbing ability will be stronger, making it easier for them to survive and last longer.
