How do you care for a spider plant so it produces runners? Master these care tips
1. Reasonable light
If you want your spider plant to produce runners, it is best to give it enough sunlight. Because it is a light-loving plant, it can only grow when there is sufficient light. However, when the sunlight is too intense in summer, provide reasonable shade; do not let it be directly exposed to strong light for a long time, but it also must not be kept too shaded.
2. Appropriate watering
During normal care, water appropriately, and the amount of water must not be too much. If the watering amount is always relatively large, water will definitely accumulate in the potting soil, which will affect root growth. If you want it to produce runners, do not water too frequently. Generally, as long as the potting soil is not dry and cracked, there is no need to water; water reasonably.
3. Scientific fertilizing
If you want your spider plant to produce runners, fertilize scientifically. The amount of fertilizer should not be too large, and do not apply fertilizer that is too concentrated. You may appropriately apply a little phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Do not apply large amounts of nitrogen fertilizer, as it will make the leaves become very thick; usually reduce the amount of nitrogen fertilizer.
4. Suitable potting soil
If you want your spider plant to produce runners, the most critical thing is that the potting soil must be suitable. If the flower pot used is relatively large, it will grow excessive roots. Use a flower pot that corresponds to the size of the plant.
