Friends who often take Chinese herbal medicine are certainly familiar with medicinal herbs. Friends who are not familiar with Chinese herbal medicine think it is just those dried-up medicinal pieces in the pharmacy. Today Huahua will broaden your horizons and let you admire Chinese medicinal herbs made into bonsai!

He Shou Wu (Fallopia multiflora)

He Shou Wu has the effects of darkening hair, lowering blood lipids and anti-aging.

1. Digging it up in the high mountains

He Shou Wu mostly grows beside bushes in valleys at an altitude of 200-300 m. Now is the most suitable season to dig up He Shou Wu; you can harvest a big piece of He Shou Wu without spending a single cent!

2. Depth of burying the roots

When planting He Shou Wu, it is best to leave more than half of the rhizome exposed outside the soil, but if the fibrous roots of the He Shou Wu are not very intact, you can appropriately increase the depth of burying it into the soil.

3. Watering

He Shou Wu likes a moist environment. When transplanting it for the first time, water it thoroughly, and normally keep the potting soil from being in a state of water shortage, but do not let water accumulate either, otherwise the tuberous roots are prone to rot.

Lingzhi (Ganoderma)

Lingzhi has the effects of tonifying qi and calming the mind, relieving cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and enhancing the body's resistance.

1. Digging it up in the deep mountains

Wild lingzhi can be found on dead trees in primeval forests, but it is becoming rarer and rarer now. Flower friends can choose to buy cultivated lingzhi for a few tens of yuan per jin. Whether digging it up or buying it, be sure to choose lingzhi with a tree stump attached, and it can be planted directly into a pot.

2. Light and temperature

Under low temperature and weak light, the cap of the lingzhi is darker and thicker. In summer you can place it on a north balcony for care, and in this way it will be more ornamental than lingzhi grown on a south balcony.

3. Adjusting the temperature difference

At normal room temperature, the lingzhi cap grows relatively fast, but under low temperature the stalk of the lingzhi tends to elongate. During the growth of lingzhi, you can adjust the ratio of cap to stalk by increasing the temperature difference, so as to shape it.

Juanbai (Selaginella tamariscina)

Juanbai, also called the resurrection plant, has the effects of resolving blood stasis and stopping bleeding.

1. Spore propagation

Juanbai mostly grows in the hilly areas south of the Yangtze River, on rocks under bushes. Flower friends who have no conditions for digging it up can propagate it with spores: pick branches with mature spores and place them on moist sandy soil, and new plants will grow in a few months!

2. Soil and pots

For the soil for planting juanbai, it is best to choose sandy soil with a high humus content. When planting, it is best to leave the original exposed aerial roots outside. The flower pot should be a shallow pot or one with good drainage.

3. Watering

Watering should be done according to the state of the leaves; just keep the leaves from curling. Do not frequently let it go short of water and curl, as this easily causes branch shrinkage and affects its ornamental value.

Goji (Lycium chinense)

Goji has the effects of relieving fever and stopping cough, and can also fight fatigue and aging, making it especially suitable for women to take.

1. Seed propagation

Spend a few yuan to buy some goji seeds, soak them in warm water overnight, rub off the fruit skin and flesh, and sow the seeds in soil. To increase the survival rate, before sowing you can mix the seeds with sand at a ratio of 1:3, spray with water and sprout them.

2. Light

In summer goji enters its dormant period, so strong exposure to the sun is fatal harm to it. For it to get through the summer healthily, it is best to place it in a cool, ventilated spot with diffused light. Flower friends who lack the conditions can choose to set up a shade net.

3. Watering

Try to choose a watering time before 9 a.m.; watering in the evening easily causes powdery mildew. Watering should depend on how dry or wet the potting soil is; if it has dried out completely, then water it thoroughly.

Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica)

Brewing honeysuckle as tea can clear heat and relieve summer heat, and ease sore throat.

1. Cutting propagation

Select a relatively robust honeysuckle branch, remove the lower leaves, and insert it into the soil. During growth, keep cutting off the slender branches and picking off the vigorous growing buds to dwarf it.

2. Soil

For planting honeysuckle, it is best to use mountain soil, or a culture soil made mainly of mountain soil with an appropriate amount of leaf mold, coal ball ash, etc.

3. Light

Honeysuckle likes a sunny environment. Although it is also shade-tolerant, insufficient light easily causes leggy growth of the branches and stems, affecting its ornamental value. So it is best to place it outdoors or on a south balcony with plenty of light.

Huangyang (Buxus)

Huangyang has the effect of dispelling rheumatism, and also has a certain relieving effect on abdominal bloating, toothache and stomachache.

1. Cutting propagation

Select relatively tender huangyang branches in summer, cut the bottom flat, and insert them obliquely into sandy soil. Just avoid direct sunlight and spray water frequently to keep them moist.

2. Watering

Huangyang likes a moist environment, so keep the bonsai soil moist. In summer you can water it once in the morning and once in the evening, and spray the leaves frequently to keep them moist.

3. Pruning

During the growth of huangyang, promptly cut off its leggy branches and those that affect the shape, and after it fruits, promptly remove the fruit, otherwise it will consume nutrients.
