How should newly grown kalanchoe be pruned?

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
For newly grown kalanchoe, during the seedling stage, keep the lower pair of leaves and completely cut off the new shoots above them, so the two buds at the base of the lower pair of leaves will sprout. After they sprout and grow, keep another 1-2 pairs of leaves and cut off the tender tips above them, and four shoots will sprout from the two branches. After pruning 2-3 times, a full plant shape with 8-10 or more branches will form.

1. Pruning new shoots

Newly grown kalanchoe refers to small seedlings that have just rooted from cuttings. To make their growth shape fuller, during the seedling stage keep the lower pair of leaves and completely cut off the new shoots above them, so the two buds at the base of the lower pair of leaves will sprout.

2. Pruning tender tips

After they sprout and grow, keep another 1-2 pairs of leaves and cut off the tender tips above them, and four shoots will sprout from the two branches below. After pruning 2-3 times, a full plant shape with 8-10 or more branches will form, and when it blooms it will create a full, large flower ball.
