How to water a money tree? Master the correct watering method

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
The frequency of watering a money tree should not be fixed; keep the potting soil slightly moist, neither letting it dry out completely nor letting it sit in waterlogged conditions for long periods. In summer, the evaporation from the potting soil decreases, so the watering interval should be extended appropriately. When watering, the water should be clean and its temperature should be close to the air temperature. In summer, water in the morning or evening; in winter, water at noon.

I. Watering principles

The root system of the money tree is different from that of other green plants; its roots are rather slender. If watered too much, the roots will rot. When watering, follow the principle of keeping the potting soil slightly moist, not letting it dry out completely, and not letting it sit in waterlogged conditions for long periods.

The watering frequency should not follow a fixed schedule; it should be determined by the plant's condition. In winter and spring indoors in the north, when there is heating, the watering frequency should be relatively high. Once summer arrives, humidity is relatively high, the evaporation from the potting soil decreases, and watering should be extended appropriately.

II. How to judge whether it should be watered

One way is to tap the edge of the flower pot: dry potting soil gives a relatively hollow sound; a pot with plenty of water gives a denser sound. You can also look at the leaves of the money tree; when short of water, the leaves will droop slightly, and some will wilt.

After watering, the leaves will quickly recover. When watering it, note that the water should be clean and its temperature should be close to the air temperature. In summer, water it in the morning or evening; in winter, when the temperature is relatively low, you can water at noon, so that the water temperature does not shock its roots too much.

If you use tap water, place the water indoors for 1-2 days before watering, so that the chlorine in the water does not harm it.
