What to Do If Phalaenopsis Leaves Have Black Spots? Causes and Control Methods

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons why Phalaenopsis leaves develop black spots: if the black spots appear due to strong light exposure, shade the plant promptly; if caused by a poor environment, move the plant to a clean environment; if caused by disease, promptly remove the affected leaves and spray with medication; if caused by low temperatures, raise the temperature to 20-24°C.

1. Provide Appropriate Shade

Cause: Phalaenopsis cannot tolerate strong light exposure. If the light is too intense, it will scorch the leaf surface, causing partial burns and black spots.

Solution: Place it in a location with diffused light, or provide appropriate shading during the harshest sunlight hours.

2. Clean the Environment

Cause: In environments with a lot of coal smoke, orchids are susceptible to smoke and dust damage, developing black spots.

Solution: The place where Phalaenopsis is grown should have fresh air and be clean and tidy. Do not grow them in places with excessive dust or smoke.

3. Spray with Medication Promptly

Cause: Black spots on the plant are very likely due to a pest or disease infection. Only by promptly removing the source of the disease can the plant grow better.

Solution: When there are many leaves, you can cut off the spotted leaves to prevent cross-infection. At the same time, spray the plant with chemicals such as 80% mancozeb or 80% Dacotech at 800 times dilution, maintaining 2-3 times per month.

4. Raise the Temperature

Cause: Phalaenopsis is a tropical plant, so when the temperature is too low, it will produce withered leaves or black spots.

Solution: Keep the room temperature at 20-24°C. In winter, it must not drop below 10°C, otherwise growth will stop.
