Peace lily leaf tips look scorched: causes and solutions
1. Reduce watering
Cause: Overwatering causes water to accumulate in the pot, which prevents the roots from breathing properly and leads to root rot.
Solution: If you have already overwatered, you can pull the plant out of the pot, let it dry in a ventilated spot, and then replant it; or prop up the bottom of the pot to help moisture evaporate, and place it in a ventilated spot to dry.
2. Indirect light
Cause: Too much light will scorch the leaves, causing water loss from the leaves or scorching of the surface cells.
Solution: Move the plant to a location with weaker light or indirect light exposure; you can also use plastic sheeting or similar materials to shade the plant.
3. Mainly light fertilizer
Cause: Excess fertilizer causes root burn, which shows above the soil as leaf tips turning yellow and withering, as if scorched.
Solution: Reduce the frequency of fertilizing or lower the fertilizer concentration; if strong fertilizer has already been applied, you can scatter pak choi or radish seeds on the soil surface.
4. Spray pesticide promptly
Cause: After a plant is infected by pests or diseases, the leaves will also turn yellow, develop diseased spots, and eventually wither and drop off.
Solution: If it has been infected by pests or diseases, remove the diseased leaves, and promptly spray or apply insecticide to the leaves.
