Causes and Solutions for Blackened, Withered Middle Sections of Anthurium Leaves

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are many reasons why the middle of anthurium leaves turns black and withered. If it is caused by too much watering, pause watering; if it is caused by too much fertilizer or fertilizer that is too concentrated, pause fertilizing; if it happens just after repotting because the plant has not adapted to the environment, place it in a ventilated spot. If it is caused by pests or diseases, spray promptly for treatment.

1. Pause watering

(1) Specific cause: The most likely cause is too much watering, leading to waterlogged soil. After waterlogging, the roots rot, and the middle of the leaves may also turn black. Check whether the soil is waterlogged; if it is, that is the cause.

(2) Solution: First pause watering. Place it in a ventilated spot to let the water dissipate. When you water afterward, just water thoroughly.

2. Pause fertilizing

(1) Specific cause: Fertilizer that is too concentrated or applied in too large an amount can cause fertilizer burn, making the leaves blacken and wither.

(2) Solution: As with the previous case, first pause fertilizing. When you fertilize afterward, pay attention to the amount and concentration.

3. Place in a ventilated spot

(1) Specific cause: Just after repotting, the plant needs to go through an adaptation process; if it does not adapt, this condition may also occur.

(2) Solution: Place it in a well-ventilated spot with light that is not too strong, and wait for the plant to adapt.

4. Prevent and control pests and diseases

(1) Specific cause: Some pests and diseases can also cause the leaves to blacken and wither. For example, leaf spot disease.

(2) Solution: Carry out prevention and control according to the specific disease or pest.

5. Provide appropriate shade

(1) Specific cause: Anthuriums cannot be exposed to excessively strong direct light, otherwise they are prone to scorching, withering, and blackening.

(2) Solution: In severe cases, cut off the leaves; if the area is small, you can apply some medicated liquid. Afterward, provide appropriate shade or supply scattered light.
