What to Do When Dendrobium Orchids Drop Leaves? Causes and Solutions
1. Reduce the temperature difference
1. Cause: Too great a temperature difference between morning and evening affects the plant's growth, so leaf drop occurs.
2. Solution: Help the plant artificially to deal with the temperature difference. If it is grown indoors, you can place the plant in a corner and bring it out again during the day; if it is grown outdoors, you can protect the plant from freezing at night, and this will solve the problem of a large temperature difference.
2. Water appropriately
1. Cause: It has relatively high requirements for water quantity. If watered too much, the plant's root system is prone to problems; if watered too little, the plant will dry up. Both of these situations will cause the plant to drop leaves.
2. Solution: Watering should be done according to the situation, with different treatment for different situations; it should be neither too much nor too little. If it is too little, just water a bit more; if it has been watered too much, the plant needs to be repotted. Simply repot it into a pot with drainage holes, and the excess water will flow out through the holes without harming the plant's growth.
3. Change the soil
1. Cause: Leaf drop in the plant may also be due to the following two situations. The first is that the old soil cannot supply enough nutrients for the plant's needs; the second is that the soil's air permeability is poor, which affects the plant's absorption of nutrients.
2. Solution: If this situation occurs, consider repotting the plant with new soil. Alternatively, mix a certain amount of clay with sandy soil in a certain ratio, and this can also solve the leaf drop caused by soil problems.
