Jasmine leaves dry and scorched: causes and solutions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Due to unsuitable water levels: water moderately; if the soil is too wet and waterlogged, move it to a ventilated spot promptly. Due to improper fertilizing: when fertilizer strength is too high, stop fertilizing, and once the plant recovers, apply light fertilizer frequently. Due to temperatures being too low: cover it with a plastic bag or a bag of another breathable material and place it in a warm, humid spot.

1. Water moderately

Cause: Jasmine is not drought-tolerant, but the pot must not hold standing water. If watered too much, the soil becomes heavy and compact, the roots cannot breathe well, and root rot results. Watering too little may also cause the plant to dry up and die.

Solution: Observe your plant's condition and adjust the amount of water. If the soil feels too wet when you test it by hand, or if there is standing water, move the pot to a ventilated spot promptly, or prop up the pot to drain the excess water.

2. Fertilize appropriately

Cause: Using too much fertilizer burns the roots, causing the leaves to dry out and turn yellow.

Solution: Stop fertilizing promptly, reduce the fertilizer concentration, and apply light fertilizer frequently.

3. Prevent cold damage

Cause: Jasmine is not cold-tolerant; do not place it on a windowsill, balcony or other cold spots. Once frost damage occurs, the leaves may turn yellow and dry out.

Solution: When winter temperatures are low, cover the plant with plastic film or a snakeskin bag and move it indoors to a warm, humid place for care.
