Practical Methods and Technical Points for Early Weaning of Piglets
Early Weaning Methods for Piglets
There are three weaning methods for piglets: The first is the one-time weaning method, in which the sow and piglets are decisively separated when the piglets reach the predetermined weaning date. The second is the batch weaning method: according to the piglets' development and their consumption of supplementary feed, the piglets in one litter are weaned in several batches. The third is the gradual weaning method: starting 4 to 5 days before the predetermined weaning, the number of suckling times is gradually reduced each day, from the sow and piglets staying together at night to gradually separating the sow and piglets (driving the sow to another pen), and through the method of separating the piglets from the sow, suckling is finally terminated.
